Palmyra Police are investigating the attempted luring of two young boys on Washington Avenue Friday afternoon. Police said the boys, ages 10 and 11, were walking on the 800 block of Washington Avenue around 5 p.m. when they were approached by a white man driving a dark blue sport-utility vehicle—either a Nissan Pathfinder or Nissa Xterra. The man asked the boys if they needed a ride, then drove off. The boys told police the vehicle was last seen making a left turn onto 7th Street toward Lincoln Avenue. A Philadelphia who was pulled over by a Palmyra police officer was charged with marijuana possession, officials said. Police stopped 22-year-old Darrin Spence shortly before 11 p.m. on New Year's Day. The office observed a hand-rolled marijuana-filled cigar on the passenger seat of the vehicle. Palmyra Police arrested a local man for disorderly conduct and more after he was found banging on the door of a home, shouting obscenities, officials said. Police responded to a residence in the Harbour section of town around 10:06 p.m., Dec. 23, for a reported disorderly persons call. An intoxicated male subject was banging on the door of a residence and causing a disturbance by yelling obscenities very loudly, police said. Upon arrival, officers learned the male was not welcome on location by the resident. Officers attempted to speak with the intoxicated male but were met with the same disorderly behavior. A Cinnaminson man was found with drug paraphernalia near the Palmyra Harbour clubhouse, Palmyra police said. Slade Barrett, 18, was charged with drug paraphernalia possession. Palmyra police observed a vehicle parked on private property after business hours. After obtaining consent, the vehicle was searched after a strong odor of burnt marijuana was smelled. A Cinnaminson woman was arrested for driving under the influence when police found her impaired in her parked, but running, car on Bank Avenue near the Delaware River, police said. The driver, Suzanne Abele, 38, was arrested at the scene and taken to a hospital for treatment. White on patrol in the area of Bank and Garfield avenues, Palmyra Police saw a vehicle running with the driver appearing to be asleep. As police approached the car, they saw vomit on the ground outside of the door. A strong odor of alcohol was coming from inside the car, police said. A Palmyra woman was found with marijuana right before she was set to appear in court, police said. Catherine Saft, 32, was searched by Palmyra police around 8 a.m., Dec. 14, and found to be in possession of under 50 grams of marijuana, a toxic chemical identified as synthetic marijuana and another controlled dangerous substance. Palmyra Police said a Gloucester County man was harassing customers at Wawa this week, and after he was processed at the police station, he tried to steal a bicycle. At 7:45 a.m., Dec. 8, Palmyra officers were dispatched to Wawa for a subject soliciting money and harassing customers. The man, Walter McCarty II, 32, of Turnersville, said he was trying to get train fare. A check revealed that McCarty was wanted on an outstanding warrant out of West Deptford Municipal Court. McCarty was taken into custody on the warrant and taken to Palmyra Police headquarters. McCarty was processed on the warrant and released to West Deptford with a new court date. A steering wheel air bag was stolen out of a car in Palmyra, officials said. Between 8 p.m., Dec. 5 and 8 a.m., Dec. 6, an air bag was stolen from a 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt—which was unlocked—on the 900 block of Garfield Avenue. Palmyra Police wants to remind residents the importance of locking your vehicle when it is not in use.
