Friendly 'Lap Cat' Looking for a Home

This pet profile is courtesy of the Burlington County Animal Shelter.

Hi there! My name is Fiona and I am a medium-size, 3- to 4-year-young black and white cat. I loved having my picture taken, but I couldn't sit still because I was so excited by the attention. I love being with people and could be a lap cat. I'm cute, soft, friendly, outgoing, curious and I seem to be good with other cats. I hope you will stop in and visit with me because I'd love to be petted and you might discover I'd be a great addition to your family. Please refer to my ID number C-52182 when calling the shelter at 609-265-5073. Fiona is a member of our Purrfect Perks Program. When you adopt Fiona, you will receive a Kitty Goodie Bag donated by a volunteer with the Friends of the Burlington County Animal Shelter Note: There are no …

Meet Marvelous Miller

This pet profile is courtesy of the Burlington County Animal Shelter.

Nice smile, cute floppy ears and friendly personality. Miller is such as nice dog. He is around 6 years old and is a strong boy. Miller could use a little work on the leash and the volunteers have been working with him. Miller was busy checking out the goings-on around him and was very happy to be out of his kennel. Please come meet him soon and make him a part of your family.  Miller is a member of our Pooch With Perks Program. When you adopt, you will receive a doggie goodie bag donated by the Friends of Burlington County Animal Shelter.   SPECIAL NOTE: And now, in addition to the goodie bag, one of our volunteers has very generously offered to rebate the full shelter adoption fee to the adopter.   Refer to his ID number D-51690 when …

Capton Wants Permission to Board

This pet profile is courtesy of the Burlington County Animal Shelter.

Capton is a year old orange tabby ready to get onboard to his new home. Capton is calm, loving and would be a great feline companion. He was surrendered to the shelter due to no fault of his own, and now finds himself stuck in a cage and missing his family. If you are searching for a sweet kitty who is laid back and very sweet, why not stop by the Burlington County Animal Shelter to meet Capton (yes, a play on words) and give him an Ahoy Matey or call 609-265-5073. Refer to Capton's ID #51772.     Remember adoption fees are waived for Burlington County resident military personnel, seniors and county employees.

Bring a New Ladie Into Your Life

This pet profile is courtesy of the Burlington County Animal Shelter.

Ladie came to the shelter as a neglect case along with several other dogs. She obviously was used by her prior owner as a puppy machine for money. It's sad, but a common reality. Ladie is between 4 and 5 years old and weighs 51 lbs. She now has a second chance at a better life.  Our volunteers report she is friendly, gives kisses and loves to go for walks. Ladie is not a hyperactive dog, and has become a volunteer favorite because she is mellow and walks well on her leash. Now that all her puppies have been adopted out, this happy girl is hoping to find a family that will love her and keep her safe for the rest of her life. Check out her video for  more information.  Ladie is a member of our Pooch With Perks Program. When you adopt, you …

Maribel the Explorer Seeks a Home

This pet profile is courtesy of the Burlington County Animal Shelter.

My name is Maribel and I am a 1-2 year old dilute tortoiseshell cat, but more importantly, wanna play?! I have lots of energy once I'm out of my cage and I like to run around and explore... and play! My favorite toys just might be feather wands—remember that. I do like people and being petted, and I'm a pretty outgoing kitty, as well as a pretty one. I'm very sleek and shiny. I'd really like a home though, where I can... PLAY! So come take me home and let's be buddies  When inquiring about Maribel, refer to her ID #C-50330. The shelter can be reached at 609-265-5073. This cat is a member of our Purrfect Perks Program. When you adopt this pet you will receive a kitty goodie bag donated by a volunteer with the Friends of the Burlington …

Welcome in the New Year with Darla

This pet profile is courtesy of the Burlington County Animal Shelter.

Well, Darla is just plain darlin’!  Darla is under 2 years old, is a lovely red brindle, has a cute floppy ear, and weighs about 35 lbs. She’s very people-oriented, gave kisses and loved attention.  Darla is also food-motivated, so she will be easy to train using positive training methods. She caught on to the sit for a treat game quickly. She needs leash training and a beginner obedience class would help her learn the basics of good behavior.  This is a sweet, active dog that should fit well into just about any family willing to train her and give her plenty of exercise and games. She's probably a bit too bouncy for small kids but she should be fine with older ones. Our volunteers report she now knows sit and just loves to cuddle. She’s a…

Darling Darby Needs a Home

This pet profile is courtesy of the Burlington County Animal Shelter.

Darby is a sweet, little, 6-month-old female kitten looking for a home. She has light brown fur with dark chocolate stripes. She is a little timid at the shelter but warms up the minute you give her a toy to play with. She has a twin brother Dixon C-49947. They have been at the shelter for a very long time and would love to finally find a home. Darby is the smaller of the pair. They can be adopted either together or separately. Can you make room in your home? Come in to the Burlington County Animal Shelter and start out the New Year with a purrfect pair! Refer to Darby's ID #49948 when contacting the shelter at 609-265-5073.  A reminder that there are no adoption fees for seniors and military personnel who are Burlington County residents.

Meet Nova: A Heavenly Dog

This pet profile is courtesy of the Burlington County Animal Shelter.

Nova is a heavenly dog! This beautiful guy is a greyhound mix with a white/gray coat. He weighs only 45 pounds so he might like being a lap dog! Nova is a youngster at 8-9 months old, so he's got many good years to provide companionship to some lucky family. His previous owner says Nova is friendly with adults, children, dogs, and other animals. He has a lot of energy and will enjoy frequent long walks. Nova was a little bit timid at first with the shelter volunteers, but he warmed up once outside. Nova is still young, so he will definitely benefit from firm, consistent training. Are you alpha in your pack? If so, you might be just the leader Nova needs to allow him to become the best dog he can be. Come on over and meet him soon.   Refer …

Dixon has a twin sister named Darby (C-49948) that is also looking for a home. They can be adopted either together or separately. Come stop by the Burlington County Animal Shelter and meet these two darling kittens who would love to join a family. Schmidty: Plays Ball Better Than the Phillies!

This pet profile is courtesy of the Burlington County Animal Shelter.

Are you looking for a friend? Are you tired of no one to do activities with? Well listen up folks: If you would like to meet a sweet fella, around 2 years old, and about 50 pounds—we suggest Schmidty.  He still has the exuberance of a puppy, so structure is very important for him right now. Schmidty would rather hang out with people, not other dogs, so we recommend that he be the only dog in the home. He has, however, been on walks with other dogs in the shelter and did not seem to be bothered by them. Schmidty has learned sit, and his leash manners have improved dramatically, indicating that he is a smart boy and a willing student.  Schmidty needs an active family (no small children, since he is still a bit bouncy), willing to invest some…
