Man Caught with Weapon at Burlco Courthouse: Authorities

The Mount Ephraim man was found with a pistol in his briefcase and a dagger in his car, according to the Burlington County Sheriff's Department.

A Camden County man was arrested Wednesday after he tried to enter the Burlington County Courts facility in Mount Holly with a weapon, authorities said. John P. Flanagan, 53, of the 200 block of James Street, Mount Ephraim, was attempting to pass through security at the court facility around 8 a.m. when sheriff's officers discovered a single-action pistol—a Chinese-make, .22-caliber, starter blank revolver 8-shot—in a briefcase that was run through the x-ray machine, according to a release from the sheriff's department. Officers immediately identified the weapon and placed Flanagan under arrest before he went through the checkpoint, the release stated. County's Safety Seat Check Offers Peace of Mind for Parents

Fewer than 12 percent of car seats are installed correctly, according to the Burlington County Sheriff's Department.

Worried about your child's car seat? The Burlington County Sheriff’s Department will hold a “Safety Day” at the Medford Lakes Fire Department on Stokes Road from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday. The free event will include child safety seat checks by certified child safety seat technicians. Anyone who has a car seat in their vehicle can stop by to make sure the seat is installed properly. “Parents should stop by to have their child’s safety seat checked. It only takes a few minutes to complete,” said Burlington County Sheriff Jean Stanfield. “We have inspected more than 10,000 safety seats since we started this program 13 years ago. Over the last year, fewer than 12 percent of the seats we’ve checked have been installed correctly.”  The sheriff…
