CMS Students Face Soup-er Bowl Challenge

To celebrate, Principal Frank Golburn dressed like a turkey.

The Cinnaminson Middle School students and staff continued with their plan to “Take a Stand…Lend a Hand, last week for their annual Soup-er Bowl Challenge.  Students and staff were asked to bring in one or more cans of soup or non-perishable foods to contribute to the Food Bank of South Jersey and the Bread of Life Food Pantry in Palmyra. As a reward for the students, if they reached their goal of over 600 cans, Principal Goulburn and the Athletic Director, Mr. Liddell, would dress up as a turkey and chicken for the day. The school family surpassed their goal and collected over 900 items.  In addition to this collection, the club held its annual Senior Citizens’ Soup-er Supper last Wednesday in the middle school cafeteria. Over 170 …

Odds Are In Favor of a Zoo Camel's Super Bowl Pick: Ravens

Will Princess the Camel's prediction put Baltimore over the hump?

Princess the Camel of Popcorn Park Zoo in Ocean County's Lacey Township has a thing for underdog stories. As a football pick prognosticator, Princess has predicted the Baltimore Ravens will come out on top in Super Bowl XLVII. “She thought about it for a while,” said John Bergmann, general manager of Popcorn Park. Princess, who has been prognosticating for the past seven years, has the uncanny ability to predict the outcome of games. This season she is 11-6, having missed several weeks due to Popcorn Park’s involvement in rescuing animals after Hurricane Sandy. For Super Bowls, Princess’ record is 7-1. The last few Super Bowls, she has gone with underdogs, Bergmann said. Princess makes her decisions based on graham crackers, Bergman said. …

Super Bowl Poll: Can You Root for the Giants?

For Eagles fans, picking a team to cheer for Sunday could be a choice between the lesser of two evils.

No matter where you look, you can’t escape the Super Bowl coverage. The food! The commercials! The … teams? We feel your pain, Eagles fans. For many who bleed green, this Sunday is a most painful choice—support the hated division rival Giants or the odious defeated-the-Eagles-in-Super-Bowl-XXXIX Patriots. But we know loathing for the Giants runs very deep in many South Jersey homes. So we’re curious—who would the Giants have to play in order for you to truly root for them? Vote in our poll and share your thoughts about Sunday’s matchup in the comments.

VERY true Dorothy! Been saying that my whole life. As for the baseball comment, take your pick between NY and Philly if you live in Jersey since we don't have a team. People can root for whoever they want but I'm sick of people acting like I'm backing an out of town team. I live in NJ and the Giants play in NJ!!! Never lived a day of my life in PA and never will.   more ›
