The CHS grad and University of Maryland freshman will be marching and playing trumpet in DC today.
Cinnaminson’s Mackenzie Walls, a marching band member at the University of Maryland where he is a freshman, will perform on his biggest stage yet today. He is part of his university’s marching band that got asked to perform in the 2013 inauguration parade in Washington DC. The chance to perform goes back to his band director. Last year, L. Richmond Sparks and the band raised money for new uniforms. However, the seniors wouldn’t get to enjoy them for too long. Walls said Sparks’ goal was to get the group to perform in the parade. “He’s been pushing for this since the beginning of the season,” Walls said. “He said this is the best band he’s heard in all the years he’s been doing the marching band.” On the last day students were moving out …

After losing six solid starters and contributors to graduation last year, Cinnaminson softball comes back confident in the ability to compete in a wide open league in 2011. Head coach Shelly Garbe has seen in years past that matchups can be somewhat predictable when looking at the schedule. However, this year things seem to be a bit different in her eyes. “I can’t look at the schedule and say, ‘We are going to beat this team by a lot.’ Or, ‘This team is going to beat us by a lot,’” said Garbe, who has been teaching seventh-grade math and coaching the varsity team for the past 11 years. “I look at our schedule and any game can go any direction on any given day.
