Speed Raceway to Open at the End of the Month

Former Eagle Brandon Whiting will be the Cinnaminson general manager of the go-kart joint.

It's almost time to start your engines.  Speed Raceway should open by the end of the month, according to the Cinnaminson location’s general manager—the group is waiting on cart and track certification from the state. Brandon Whiting, general manager, said the certification is the main thing holding up the Speed Raceway opening on Route 130. “We’re pretty much getting things buttoned up over here,” Whiting said. Superstorm Sandy also may have contributed to the state’s late certification process and there were some shipping delays with the go-karts that come from Italy. “But we want to do it right,” Whiting said of the opening. He’s expecting the certifications to come though within the next two weeks and is planning for an end-of-the-…

Site Plans Approved for Go-Kart Facility

Construction could start as early as May.

Preliminary and final site plans given by Kimco Realty Corporation, the group behind the proposed go-kart racing facility, were approved unanimously by zoning board members Wednesday night. Construction could start as early as May. Although no members of the public testified on the project at Wednesday’s meeting, several were in attendance during December’s zoning board meeting and voiced their concerns. After the site plans are approved …

Site Plans for Raceway to Be Presented

The public can get a chance to see the raceway's layout.

Officials from Kimco Reality Corporation, the group behind the proposed go-kart facility slated for the vacant Vanity Fair in the ACME shopping center, will present site plans tonight (Wednesday) at the township's zoning board meeting. Kimco's first appearance to present site plans—last month—was tabled. In this case, site plans are going before the zoning board since the group needed a use variance to open a go-kart facility. They were granted the use variance in December. Site plans for the indoor racetrack include concessions, conference and meeting spaces, a retail area, and an arcade. They would be using about 85,000 square feet of vacant space in the center. The construction of Sonic Drive-In across the parking lot from where the …
