Don't mind getting your hands (or gloves) dirty? Come out Tuesday for a park cleanup at Boundary Creek Park in Moorestown.
Burlington County freeholders are seeking volunteers to help the Clean Communities Office and Eastern Mountain Sports with a park cleanup next Tuesday at Boundary Creek Park in Moorestown. “Our county residents have really stepped up to help us keep our parks clean,” said Freeholder Director Bruce Garganio. “We really appreciate all their efforts. It is great to see folks working together to keep our community green.” Volunteers are encouraged to wear long pants, long sleeves, long socks and sturdy close-toed shoes that can get muddy. The cleanup will focus on the removal of invasive honeysuckle plants in grassy areas where insects are present, so volunteers may wish to use insect repellent as well. Volunteers are asked to bring along …

The annual Pompeston Creek Watershed Association cleanup will be tomorrow at 10 a.m.
Get a little dirty tomorrow with other volunteers and members of the Pompeston Creek Watershed Association (PCWA) as the 8th annual creek cleanup at Fountain Farms Park takes place. The yearly event runs from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to clean up debris, trash and pull invasive plants out of the creek that runs through Cinnaminson and out to the Delaware River. Debbie Lord, member of the PCWA, said there’s a big debris jam near Willow Drive so the group will work to clean that up. “And we’ll walk upstream and downstream and pick up trash,” she said. You never really know what you’ll find while cleaning up the creek, Lord said. In recent years, the group has pulled out mattresses, a washing machine, fencing, bicycles and chairs. Two years ago, …

Saturday is not only a county cleanup day but Cinnaminson's event also.
Freeholders here are seeking volunteers to help cleanup a county park this Saturday, the same day as Cinnaminson's park cleanup day. The site of the county cleanup is Pennington Park in Delanco from 9 a.m. to noon. Cinnaminson's event starts at 9 a.m., so volunteers can split their time. This weekend’s event will be the second of three county park cleanup days this spring. The Pennington Park cleanup will entail the shoreline of the Rancocas Creek in both the park and along Newton’s Landing Trail. At last year’s cleanup, more than 80 volunteers removed seven tons of debris from the shoreline. All volunteers are encouraged to bring drinking water and wear long pants, long sleeves, long socks and sturdy close-toed shoes that can get muddy. …

All seven parks will welcome volunteers to help clean up litter and debris.
Grab your rakes, wheelbarrows and shovels—this Saturday is park cleanup day. For the second year in a row, Cinnaminson volunteers, families, sports organizations and more will hit the township’s seven parks to clean up trash and debris. “It’s community unity, from our younger generation all the way up to our older generation,” said Christine Turner, organizer for the event. Starting at 9 a.m. Saturday, a township-wide cleanup effort will kick off, beautifying the parks for the upcoming spring sports season. Lead volunteers are assigned to each park to assign areas to those who wish to help. The township is providing bottled water and trash bags and volunteers are asked to bring other tools such as rakes or spades. Mayor Don Brauckmann, …

Thank you to those of you who came out to help today! Debbie hurt her back and couldn't go creek tromping with us, but we still managed to get a lot done. This year's haul included a bicycle, a fan, about 5 feet of wire fencing, and the best of all: a giant pair of underpants! I don't even want to know how they wound up in the creek! If you would like to be a part of events like this, why not …   more ›
