Alleged Nanny Cam Intruder Convicted in Delran Attack

Shawn Custis was living in Cinnaminson 22 years ago when he attacked a woman in her parents' home.

Shawn Custis, the man reportedly captured on a nanny camera violently attacking an Essex County woman in her home two weeks ago, brutalized a woman in a similar Delran assault in 1991.

Custis lived on Bannard Street in Cinnaminson at the time, the Burlington County Times reports. According to the newspaper, he assaulted and threw a woman in Delran down the stairs as she clutched her baby.

The account of the Delran attack is jarringly similar to the June 21 home invasion in Millburn, Essex County.

Hidden video footage of the vicious break-in quickly went viral. It shows the perpetrator violently beating a woman, kicking and punching her before throwing her down the basement stairs, all in front of her 3-year-old daughter. The assailant fled the home, but the video so outraged and unsettled the community that a reward fund for his capture quickly grew.

The FBI arrested Custis, 42, in Manhattan a week later. Custis is an ex-convict who has 12 felony convictions to his name, dating back two decades. He was most recently released from prison in December after serving time for burglary.
