Kennan Wideman Pleads Guilty in 2010 Murder of Cinnaminson Teen

The young Pennsauken man faces 60 years in prison.

Officials said a 19-year-old Pennsauken man pleaded guilty June 25 to two counts of first degree aggravated manslaughter that resulted in the death of an 18-year-old Cinnaminson woman and her boyfriend, Michael Hawkins, 23, in 2010.

Camden County Prosecutor Warren W. Faulk said Kennan Wideman admitted that on Feb. 22, 2010, he participated in the killing of Hawkins, of Mt. Holly, by beating him with a baseball bat in an upstairs bedroom of a home on the 500 block of Berkley Street in Camden.

Wideman said he struck Hawkins with the bat because shooting the victim had not killed him.

Wideman also admitted to stabbing Cinnaminson woman Muriah Huff two to three times. He acknowledged in court this week hearing Huff beg for her life, but then saw another defendant bring an extension cord downstairs for the purpose of strangling her.

Huff and Dawkins were brought outside and buried in the home’s back yard, where they remained until found by law enforcement on Feb. 25, 2010.

Officials said Wideman is expected to be sentenced to two concurrent 30-year terms in New Jersey state prison. He would be eligible for parole after serving 85 percent of his sentence, meaning he would potentially be released in 25 years, six months.

Nine others, three juveniles and six adults, have also been . Seven, including Wideman, have pleaded guilty.

A trial for another defendant, Clive Hinds, is expected to begin on July 9.

Two others, Darryl Pierre and Dennis Welch, are still pending trial. Both are charged with numerous offenses, including two counts of murder against Pierre and one count of murder against Welch.
