UPDATED: Victim of Riverton Fatal Shooting ID'ed

The body of a woman was found on Carriage House Lane early Sunday morning.

UPDATE: The victim of a fatal shooting in Riverton early Sunday has been identified as a woman from Youngstown, OH.

The body of Te'Aira Denise Earvin, 22, was discovered by Riverton Police after they received a 911 call shortly 5:30 a.m. Sunday reporting an unconscious and unresponsive woman on the ground on Carriage House Lane between Thomas and Lippincott avenues, according to a release from the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office.

An autopsy performed by Burlington County Medical Examiner Dr. Ian Hood indicated Earvin died as a result of gunshot wounds. The manner of death has been listed as homicide.

Family and friends of Earvin were saddened and shocked at her passing, based on comments and messages posted on Facebook over the last 24 hours. 

A woman who identified herself as Earvin's sister wrote, "My heart is broken, My heart aches, My body is trembling, My eyes are burning ... Can't believe someone took her away from my life!!!"

Another woman who identified herself as the victim's cousin wrote, "I loved her with everything in me! Never thought that last 'I love you' would be the last! ... The love I have for her is unexplainable."

None of the comments appeared to shed any light on what may have led to Earvin's tragic death.

No arrests have been made. The case is being investigated by the prosecutor's office and the Riverton Police Department. Anyone with information that would be useful to investigators is urged to call Burlington County Central Communications at 609-265-7113.
